Summer 2015

... is what I would call a "success."

Mike and I were challenged in new ways as parents. We learned about neuroplasticity, propreception, brain organization, and sensory integration.

Best part of my day. Encouragement from Killian. I was doing Mick's floorwork with him and Killian started holding up signs he made for us both.

Mick did a lot of growing over the summer. The boys successfully attended the first camp together for the first time. For 7 weeks, they shared the same classroom together. Most days they would walk to my car, carrying oversized bags full of swimming gear, looking like such big kids, and announce "Zero!" when they reached the car. Zero fights that day between the two of them. "Infinity Care Bears" Mick added for emphasis of how sweet he was that day.

The boys completely forgot about Angry Birds, tablets, iphones, etc over the summer, and instead for the past several weeks, Mick comes down the stairs first thing in the morning and demands, "I need a sheet of white paper!" He has developed a strong interest in art and now draws for hours. He went from very little artistic ability or confidence earlier this year to really finding joy in it and having the confidence to experiment. The boys collaborated together on this art project - the best Care Bear ever.

Killian took his first trip to DisneyWorld with his awesome grandparents and had the best days of his life. Mick learned to swim this summer and diligently works to improve.

Mick and I got a bike! We went some places.

Mike got a sweet haircut and his beard cleaned up and now longer looks like he lives in a van down by the river.

We made it to the beach with my siblings. Whenever I see this picture, I think it says, "YOLO."

Killian wants to know why Mick is peeing off of the balcony in this photo.

We spent a lot of time on the front yard swing.

We didn't make it to the pool as much as we thought we would, but then we made up for it at the end of the summer! (Killian and I went off the high dive for the first time in our lives!)

We are not ready! Summer will last forever or at least until @shannonparkpool closes. Inspired by Killian going off the high dive for the first time, I went off the high dive for the first time in my life too.

Killian's first day of 1st grade! Did I do this picture right?

I learned I'm going to be an aunt! Hooray for more Economous!

Shifts happen. I feel like this little heart has grown three sizes this summer.

I love Mick's dreamy safety glasses look.

These are my favorite moments of parenthood.

"James is going to come to the door and be like 'who the heck are you? I thought Michael Jackson was dead!" And then I'll take off my wig and be like, hey, it's just me, Killian!"

Yes, you can dress up as Michael Jackson and go walk around the neighborhood. #yesmoment

Happy Thursday

Exploring the industrial park and construction site by your house in an Elsa dress.

And all I can say is that my life is pretty plain...
